- Learn Serbian language fluently (going well)
- Pursue long-term career and ministry in Serbia/Montenegro (nearly 6 years and still here)
- Learn more about Serbia & Montenegro, its people and culture (inevitable)
- Become more dependent on God (having low wages sure keeps you dependent on God!)
- Become less dominated by materialism and career (definitely - keep worrying whether I have thrown
away my career, or whether I have just changed its direction).
- Write e-mails and letters:
Despite the fact that I have lots of people to work with and many friends in Montenegro, I
sometimes get lonely and nostalgic. It would be great to hear from you if I know you already, but also
it would be interesting to get to know people who are just curious about what I am doing here.
- Send parcels:
- Sweets: those cola bottle penny sweets, the really sour ones covered in sugar, and those blue
liquorice sweets in allsorts.
- Tea: I stock up every time I come back to the UK - generally I buy Typhoo De-caffeinated.
- Coffee: decaff filter coffee is impossible to get here. I have no real preference
although I try to get Fair Trade coffee.
- Exciting new music which I might like: I like Jazzy Drum'n'Bass, among other things.
- Interesting books to read. Travel books I always find interesting.
- Visit me in Serbia or Eastern Europe
There are several parts of Montenegro and other countries I intend to visit:
- Kiev, Ukraine
- Nevidio Canyon, Montenegro
- Mrtvica Canyon, Montenegro
- Cruise on Lake Skadar
- Skiing in Montenegro or Bosnia (Vucje, Zabljak, Bjelasica or Jahorina)
- Prague, Czech Republic
- The Julian Alps, Slovenia
- Various cities in Italy (Padua)
If you'd like to visit any of these with me, or just see my work in Niksic at first hand, please get in touch. I doubt I'll get the opportunity to visit
half these places though, but I'd be open to ideas.
